The best zipline on Kauai

Kauai has three zipline operators in 2026. They cost about the same, but they are very different mornings out. Here is how to choose.

Kauai's ziplines split between the south shore at Koloa and the ranches near Lihue.

Booking choice: Koloa Zipline's 8-line tour, from $170 per person. Check dates Compare the options below

Koloa Zipline is on the south shore near Poipu. Outfitters Kauai runs its courses at Kipu Ranch, just south of Lihue. Kauai Backcountry Adventures is also near Lihue, on former plantation land inland.

All three include the gear and guides; none of them picks you up from your hotel. The real differences are the number of lines, the longest ride, water, lunch and age limits.

The quick answer

Pick Koloa Zipline for the most lines (eight), the youngest riders (from age 7) and a short drive from Poipu. Pick Outfitters Kauai for the FlyLine, Hawaii's longest single zipline, and a WaterZip into a swimming hole. Pick Kauai Backcountry for a swim and lunch in one tour, if everyone is 12 or older.

How do Kauai's zipline tours compare side by side?

Koloa leads on lines and price, Outfitters Kauai on the longest ride and water, Backcountry on lunch and a swim.

Which Kauai zipline has the most lines?

Koloa Zipline, with eight lines in one tour, billed as the longest zipline tour on Kauai.

The course crosses former sugar plantation land and Waita Reservoir, and ends on the Waita line, about half a mile long. Outfitters Kauai's tours have three to six lines, and Kauai Backcountry has seven.

Which has the longest single zipline?

Outfitters Kauai: the FlyLine at Kipu Ranch runs over 4,000 feet in one Superman-style ride, and the operator calls it Hawaii's longest.

It is on the AdrenaLine and Nui tours, and is also sold as a standalone ride direct. Koloa's longest line is shorter, but you get more lines overall. The details are in longest zipline in Hawaii.

Which zipline has a water landing?

Only Outfitters Kauai: its WaterZip lets you release over a lava-rock swimming hole.

The AdrenaLine tour includes the WaterZip and time to swim, and guests recommend wearing a swimsuit under your clothes. The Kipu Zipline Safari adds a bamboo-fringed pool. Koloa has no water stop, and Kauai Backcountry ends with a swim in a mountain pool.

Which is best for kids?

Koloa Zipline for most families: riders from age 7, tandem riding for lighter kids, and the most lines for the money.

Outfitters Kauai also starts at 7 (with a 4-foot height and 60 lb minimum) and its Safari lets children from 5 join the kayak, hike and swim, though they must be 7 to zipline. Kauai Backcountry is for ages 12 and up. See Koloa Zipline with kids.

Which is easiest to reach from Poipu?

Koloa Zipline: the check-in office is about five minutes from the Poipu resorts.

Kipu Ranch and Kauai Backcountry are both near Lihue, a drive of roughly 20 to 25 minutes from Poipu. From the east shore resorts around Kapaa, the Lihue courses are closer.

Which suits a full adventure day?

The Kipu Zipline Safari: kayak, hike, swim, zipline and a picnic lunch in about six and a half hours.

It costs more but replaces a whole day of planning. If you would rather mix a short zipline with something else, pair Koloa's morning tour with a Poipu surf lesson or an afternoon on the beach.
